Our 10 Year Milestone, One Lap At A Time

Starting a business is never easy, and the saying goes that most small companies don’t last three years. Honestly, I thought I might be part of that statistic in 2016. Work was scarce, and I even tried running a franchise in another industry. That venture ultimately failed—proving the three-year statistic true—but it also pushed me to refocus on what I truly love.
Over the past ten years, I’ve had the privilege of working with many people and teams, and I feel fortunate to make a living doing what I love—helping drivers go faster, whether in race cars or track day cars. Unlike many coaches, I don’t rely on driving my clients’ cars to compare laps. Instead, I focus on their data and video, studying their inputs, grip usage, and car behavior.

Today, I serve as Performance Engineer for Marco Polo Motorsports in the SRO Pirelli GT4 Series. It’s the first time I’ve officially carried that title, but it fits well. I’m responsible for analyzing data and video, advising on setup changes, and working closely with our pro drivers on using systems like traction control, ABS, and throttle maps for maximum performance.

This year, we proudly finished 3rd in class at Road America—a remarkable result considering the challenges we faced and the tough competition in the GT4 field. With a brand-new car, every lap has been a learning experience for the whole team.

For other teams and drivers, I step into the role of Driver Coach. While data and video remain central to my coaching, I believe that 90% of driving a race car fast is mental. Every driver learns differently, so my approach changes based on what resonates with each individual. My own racing experience helps me understand not just the technical side, but also the psychological challenges of competing.

Modern coaching and engineering rely heavily on technology, and I regularly use tools like AIM’s Race Studio 3, RaceLogic’s VBOX Video and Circuit Tools, MoTeC’s I2 Pro, Magneti Marelli’s Wintax 4, and Porsche’s Pi Toolbox. Since acquiring Peter Krause’s hardware sales business in 2022, I’ve also deepened my knowledge of the data and video hardware that supports these platforms. The more I learn, the better I can serve my customers—whether they come to me for coaching or equipment.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible race cars, drivers, crews, and fans. My work has taken me to Italy and Canada with Ferrari of Atlanta, Denmark with Michael Markussen Racing, and most recently, to France with Robert Noaker Racing for the inaugural Mustang Challenge race at Le Mans. I’ve collected countless memories and photos along the way, and I’ve shared some of them here: PDA Sep 25 Article Pics

None of this would have been possible without the support of my customers and partners over the past decade. I’m deeply grateful for every opportunity. I may not know what the next ten years will bring, but as long as I continue to love this work, retirement isn’t even on the radar.

Here’s to more races, more data, and more speed!
